Are Citrus Trees Ok In Winter?
Growing citrus trees and fruit in the UK may not seem like it will be successful. However, if you look after your plant correctly, you can ensure that it stays healthy all year round. Reduce watering and keep it in a bright, light, temperate environment to help maintain growth through the colder months. Citrus trees prefer a sunny, sheltered position in the growing season, with winter protection if temperatures drop and there is a risk of frost. In spring and summer, regular feeding with a specialist citrus fertiliser can also support strong fruit development, while established trees may benefit from larger pots if roots need more room.
